Live Fertile Principle #3: Rejuvenation

What images swirl about your mind when you hear the word rejuvenation?

For me, it’s a strange blend of celebrity-filled anti-aging skincare commercials (come on, you know the ones I’m talking about!) and the concept of Jing from Traditional Chinese Medicine that feels both intuitive and esoteric to my American brain.

Whether your mind goes where my mind goes or somewhere else entirely, when I refer to Rejuvenation as a part of the Live Fertile Philosophy, I’m referring to those things that bring about a sense of vitality; the rest and recreation that revitalizes us.

These are often the things that I feel get left out of the wellness conversation far too often. So often, supporting wellbeing and reproductive health feels like it’s all about following a complicated list of have-tos like taking a ridiculous amount of supplements, eating all the fertility “super” foods, and exercising more than is probably wise. To me, these are things that can become draining. Which is the exact opposite of what I think we should be doing when we’re planning to bring a new life into the world.

In my head, life begets life. So the smartest thing to do is fill yourself with life. Which means getting in plenty of quality rest, doing things that make you feel alive and joyful, and managing stress.

So this week, we’re exploring sleep and stress management.

In the video below, I share a bit about how unchecked stress and inadequate sleep can affect our fertility, along with five of my favorite tips to improve the quality of your sleep and five tips to off-set the effects of stress.

Hope you enjoy!
