How Stress Affects Your Fertility
"Take rest; a field that has rested gives a bountiful crop. - Ovid

Last year really kicked my butt. The stress from all the changes, some good, many not so good, negatively affected my hormonal health. The wonky periods and acne I experienced over the summer proved that.

While I wasn't TTC, I'm still WTT, I'm fairly certain if I had tried, it wouldn't have gone as I would have hoped. Hormones and periods gone awry usually aren't a sign of optimal reproductive health. Quite the opposite.

The connection between fertility and stress in all its forms, whether psychological or physical, is complicated. The, "which came first, the chicken or the egg?" question comes to mind. Which comes first? Does stress lead to difficulty conceiving or does difficulty conceiving lead to stress?

The Only 3 Essential Oils You Need

There are hundreds of essential oils available. Crazy, I know, and yes I want them all. While each one shines in its own way, many of the benefits overlap from oil to oil. Which is great news; that means you don't need to buy a massive kit to get started with aromatherapy.

The Essential Oil Starter Kit

I've heard it said by many herbalists and aromatherapists and it's true: it's better to know one oil (or herb) and its many uses really well than it is to know a little bit about and only one way to use a lot of them. In my opinion, there are really only three essential oils you need.

The Newbies Introduction to Essential Oils

Peppermint and lavender oil saved my life one day. Ok, so that might be a a bit of an overstatement, but they certainly helped, a lot.

My period had just started, and while my PMS has gotten MUCH better over the last year or so, every now and again I have cramps that don't exactly tickle. I randomly decided to blend coconut oil with lavender and peppermint oil and massage it into my back, tummy, and hips. WORKED. LIKE. A. CHARM. I was sold! Hooked!

After completing an intro to essential oils course online, I knew I had to know more about the world of aromatherapy. So I signed up for a level 1 certification course at the New York Institute of Aromatherapy. And it was amazing.

I learned so much and I'm continuing my studies, which means I will be sharing aromatherapy information, tips, and recipes here.

Is Too Much Exercise Affecting Your Fertility?

When it comes to exercise and fertility, I always think of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Falling into either extreme, too much or too little, will keep us from creating healthy, happy, and fertile bodies. We need to find the amount that is just right. It's all about finding that sweet spot.

Nonstop, high intensity exercise puts loads of stress on the body. If we couple too much exercise with too little food, we are begging for trouble.

A stressed, overworked, and depleted body is not a healthy body, let alone a fertile body.

Being active is soooo important to our health and fertility, but too much is too much.

3 Ways to Use Essential Oils

I. AM. OBSESSED, absolutely obsessed with essential oils. I have always dabbled with using them but after putting together some wellness tips with the health educator at the clinic I work in, I decided to get serious about learning more about aromatherapy. I recently completed an introduction to aromatherapy course and have decided to work on getting certified next year. And I fully intend to share the wealth of knowledge I gain along the way with you lovely folks.

There are so many oils and so many ways to use them, it would take forever to cover it all.  So I will share just a few of my faves.
